When a dispute arises that cannot be resolved between two parties, they will frequently opt for litigation as a means of settling the dispute.

Why Litigate?

In the normal course of events in a commercial transaction, disagreements occur. Litigation is recommended so both sides can state their case, and the dispute can be resolved. It may be two companies in the litigation, or a company and its client.

In the state of California, it is a crime to knowingly transmit an STD (sexually transmitted disease) to another person. There are three laws with regard to individuals who have HIV. The consensus is that this legislation needs to be tougher, and strictly enforced.

Recent legislation, known as Senate Bill 239, signed into law by California Governor Jerry Brown considers intentional transmission of sexually transmitted diseases such as herpes or hepatitis as possible criminal activity. This is based on a partner not being informed prior to intimacy with the affected person.

Bill S1163/A501 for protecting students with disabilities from harmful restraint and seclusion has finally been signed into law by state governor Chris Christie. This bill was introduced in early 2016 and establishes protections for students with special needs.

Learn What to Do If You Were Unknowingly Removed as a Beneficiary on Your Husband’s Will

When someone serves in the military, they are entitled to a life insurance policy. Within the policy, the member must designate a person to be the beneficiary of the policy when they die.  The beneficiary can be changed at any time if the military member decides that he or she wants to change it.

State governments have also entered into agreements or “compacts” with tribes, typically involving gaming and taxes on products and services offered by tribal entities.
