Gov. Newsom Orders Closures Statewide

In response to the growing spread of COVID-19, Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered the immediate closure of indoor businesses. According to his statement released Monday, July 13, all indoor dining, bars, movie theaters, and family entertainment centers must close immediately, statewide. For counties on the watch list, including Riverside County and San Bernardino County, the following sectors will need to move outdoors or close:

· Gyms and Fitness Centers

· Places of Worship

· Indoor Protests

· Offices for Non-Critical Business

· Personal Care Services: Hair Salons, Barbers, Nail Salons, Massage Services, Tattoo Parlors

· Indoor Malls

State Orders Closure of Indoor Dining and Other Indoor Activities in Riverside County

On July 1, Governor Newsom ordered the closure of indoor dining and activities in 19 counties, including Riverside County. Restaurants and other indoor attractions identified by the state must cease indoor operations immediately for at least 3 weeks until permitted to resume by the State and County. Businesses ordered to cease indoor operations include:

These are not effective immediately. We anticipate they may go into effect late tomorrow or Friday.

Riverside County Nonprofit Assistance Fund

The Riverside County Nonprofit Assistance Fund is a collaborative effort to provide financial support to nonprofit organizations significantly impacted by COVID. In response to the pressure COVID has placed on our nonprofits, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved $5 million in CARES funding to establish the Riverside County Nonprofit Assistance Fund. Operating grants will be awarded to organizations to assist with their operating expenses and costs associated with loss of revenue due to the outbreak.

The Inland Empire Community Foundation (IECF) was awarded the funds to administer, in partnership with the Riverside County Homeless Solutions and Workforce Department and the Inland Empire Funder’s Alliance.

Grants range from $2,500 – $10,000

Opening Date: July 1, 2020

Closing Date: July 31, 2020

Indio – Riverside County Fairgrounds, in parking lots 5 and 5A off of Arabia Street (between Highway 111 and Dr. Carreon Boulevard, Indio) – Drive-thru testing, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. INSURANCE COMMISSIONER ORDERS REFUNDS OF PREMIUMS

California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara ordered insurance companies to refund premiums for March and April, and May if Shelter in Place restrictions continue.  These refunds must be refunded no later than August 2020.  The Commissioner’s Order applies to the following impacted CA policyholders:
