After witnessing the most violent shooting in modern American history, many are starting to examine the country’s gun laws. Partially because of its history of gun violence, California has some of the strictest laws in the country.
Newer Gun Laws in California
Senate Bill 464
This bill requires California citizens to lock their guns away in a safe or container, which has a lock and key.
Assembly Bill 1525
This bill requires manufacturers and weapon salesman to include a warning label on the product.
Although the warning label has not been determined at this time, an example of one is, “Firearms must be handled responsibly and securely stored to prevent access by children and other unauthorized users.”
Assembly Bill 7
This bill further limits the areas in which citizens can open-carry firearms in California.
Assembly Bill 424
Following Senate Bill 707, which made it a crime to carry a firearm onto a school zone, unless that person had permission from the district’s superintendent, Assembly Bill 424 restricts all CCW holders from carrying firearms onto a campus.
Understanding the firearm laws has never been more important. It is our jobs as citizens to uphold them and ensure safety for everyone. For more legal inquiries on Palm Springs public law, be sure to get a consultation with our law firm.
